Works in Progress
Below are a few paintings that I am trying to finish. All are acrylic on canvass. The first is another abstract. This shape and connecting canvasses came to me and wouldn't let go. The overall size is 54" wide and 48 " high. So far I've recorded two steps:
This second piece is a small landscape. The overall size is 8" X 12". I'm still working on the detailing. I like this size ratio: (1 X 1 1/2) because this is the same ratio that my camera captures the photograph.
I absolutely loved this place. This was from a photograph that I took of a beautiful area along the side of the river in Quechee, Vermont. I camp there every summer. I have several pictures from Vermont. Unfortunately the weather hardly ever cooperates and it's difficult to get the photo and lighting just right. I love Vermont and will return again this summer. |
I've been experimenting and learning how to add depth to my many greens by using complementary colors. This also seems to give the paint nicer more natural looking contrasts. As usual every painting is a whole new experience and after looking at this I will go back to some of the shapes and add more natural looking brush strokes and more variety of color. Thanks for bearing with me as I plod along. |
So, This is another painting I've just started from Quechee, Vermont as well. This is one of the end's of where the Quechee Gorge flow runs. The other end is the more interesting with all these narly rock formations. I hope to attempt that as well soon. The size is 9" X 12"
I'm still learning how to make my greens look more natural and interesting. I have to admit that I am having the time of my life- what a total blast! The next lesson will be to improve my painting of water. I haven't quite got the hang of it (at least not where I want it to be) but I thrilled to be experimenting and there are endless things to learn. |
